Please do not obtain any materials until after you have received your instrument recommendation and have registered for band!

Use the link above to register for Band
There is limited availability on some of the instruments we offer. We are very sorry, but we cannot add extra spots to those instruments if they fill up.
If the instrument your child would like to play is not listed, that means we have reached the maximum limit of students we can accept on that instrument. You can still be added to the waitlist for that instrument and sign up for their 2nd choice instrument instead.
If your child is interested in taking both band and orchestra, please fill out the form twice: once for their band instrument, and once for their orchestra instrument.
Band and orchestra classes will begin in the first week of school in 5th grade. Students should be signed up to participate by May 29.
Get an instrument & supplies
Please refer to the supply sheets listed below. Please do this in July, as the music stores tend to run out of supplies right before school starts.
We recommend purchasing or renting an instrument from a reputable music store. Most supplies are included in a music store's rental package.
If you plan to use a privately used instrument, be sure to take it to a music store to have it checked and put in good playing condition. Your student will need all other supplies and an unused lesson boo. Be sure to get the correct book as described in the instrument supply sheet (e.g. Flute Book 1, Bass Clef Baritone Book 1, etc.).
Please obtain an instrument that is high-quality and will blend in with the other instruments in the band. Nonstandard/colored instruments often have inferior tone quality and are more difficult to play. We strongly discourage purchasing non-standard brand instruments online! The vast majority of these cheap instruments break easily and repair parts are often impossible to obtain.
Please note that there are a very limited number of school-owned instruments available for rent on a first-come first-served basis for students who qualify for free or reduced school fees. If you believe you qualify to rent one of our school-owned instruments and you are not able to obtain your own, you may fill out a request for a school-owned instrument for band below.
Most students rent their instrument from a reputable music store. Below are listed two that we recommend:
Sweetwater online rental
All tubas, euphoniums, and horns are provided for rental by the school for the students who were recommended to play these instruments. You will not need to purchase a tuba, euphonium, or horn, and you will not need to complete the School Instrument Request Form linked above. The yearly rental fee is $50 (to be billed by the district after the school year begins). We automatically reserve a school instrument for all students who were recommended and signed up for a horn, euphonium, and tuba. Students who play these instruments will still need all other supplies on their supply list.
Percussion will need to rent or purchase their practice kit (a bell kit and snare practice pad) and supplies as described in the supply sheet. Since percussionists also use shared school-owned instruments, there is a yearly usage fee of $25 (to be billed by the district after the school year begins) in addition to the practice kit at home.
Please help your child refrain from putting their instrument together before class begins! Damages can very easily occur, and poor habits may develop if they are not properly instructed.
Some band & orchestra supplies are available to purchase at the school store at Prairie Creek. Horn, euphonium, and tuba students canĀ purchase their mouthpiece from the school store.
If students need to replace any supplies throughout the year, they can also purchase them here.
