Hey Crowell Wildcats,
Welcome to my 8th - 12th grade English and Theatre website for the 2021-2022 school year!! I am beyond excited for the upcoming school year. This site will be a way to showcase student's skills and a place to get information about what is happening in my classroom.
A few expectations I have in my classroom:
Give me 100% of what you can EVERY day.
Expect failure so I can help you overcome it!
Don't talk while I'm talking....
Cell phones must be in the pocket!
*Parents, please call the office if there is an emergency!
These seem pretty easy, Right? I am just asking that students show up every day willing to give me the best they can that day with no distraction from their phones. On a scale of 1-10, some days that 100% might be a 3 and that's ok. That means on the days you are at a 10, you better BRING IT! I want students in my classroom to know that it's ok to fail. (I'm not talking about making below a passing grade for the whole class.) I want students to take ownership of what they are learning while taking risks to grow as a reader and writer. Growth Mindset!! We will set goals and talk about how to achieve them. We'll reflect on the things they did and didn't like, things they did well, and how can they improve as the year progresses.
While there are many classroom procedures that we will discuss and get acquainted with, talking while someone else is talking is my MAJOR pet peeve. There will be plenty of time for discussion!!
ATTENTION PARENTS!!!!!!
All English students will be required to read for AR points. This will be part of their assessment grades.
I will send you an invite to your child's Google Classroom where you will be able to see in real-time their grade as I update it daily and weekly.
Explore this site to see Student Blogs, 1st Chapter Reads, 9 Weeks Syllabi, and Weekly Agendas... All things happening in English, Theatre, and Photography!
