Allison Bucklew

7th & 8th Grade Math

Ms. Allison Bucklew is a KCMO native who graduated from Drake University in 2008 with a B.A. in English and a B.S. in Environmental Studies. She is in her ninth year teaching at high performing charter schools. Ms. Bucklew started teaching upper elementary math in New Orleans turnaround schools in 2008. In 2011, she returned to Kansas City, where she has taught math at the upper elementary and high school levels. You can find Ms. Bucklew at dog parks, boxing gyms, rock climbing, or one of her many favorite coffee shops on the weekends.

Liz Spangler

7th & 8th Grade Co-Teacher

Liz Spangler graduated from Knox College with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. She gained a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from UMKC. Before coming to Crossroads, Mrs. Spangler taught 4th and 5th grade for seven years. Mrs. Spangler also has experience teaching children with emotional and behavioral disorders and adults. In the spring of 2016, Mrs. Spangler was awarded a Fund For Teachers Fellowship that allowed her to travel to England to visit Studio Schools. She's looking forward to implementing the practices she observed in these innovative schools!

In her free time, Mrs. Spangler loves gardening, running, and yoga. After school and on the weekends Mrs. Spangler can be found hiking with her husband, Todd and two dogs Belle and Doyle.

Larry Washington

5th - 8th Grade PE & Health

Hello, I am Coach Washington. This is my second year as the Middle School PE/Health teacher at CAKC. I have worked in the Field of Education for over 11 years. I graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a B.A. in Physical Education and a Minor in History and received my Master’s Degree in the Art of Teaching from the University of Central Missouri. Prior to working at Crossroads Academy, I worked as a Tutor/ Long Term Substitute, a Behavior Interventionist , Football/Basketball Coach, and as a Male Mentor.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my wife and three kids. Originally from Louisiana, I enjoy watching the New Orleans Saints and the LSU Tigers play during the football season.

Adrianne Clayton

5th - 8th Grade Visual Arts

Hello great families of Crossroads Academy! I am the new middle school art teacher, Adrianne Clayton. I am extremely excited to be working with the scholars for this 2016/2017 school year.

I have been teaching art for 17 years with a BA in Studio Art with emphasis in Graphic Design, a MA in Curriculum and Instructional Leadership and an ED Spec. in Beginning Administration.

I am a mother of five children (one adopted me) . I enjoy spending my spare time creating and cheering them on in their extra curricular activities.

It's going to be a great year and I'm looking forward to meeting you all.

Jennifer Rostohar

Kindergarten - 8th Grade Performing Arts

Jennifer Rostohar graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music

Education. During undergraduate studies, Mrs. Rostohar accompanied for many college

performance groups and musical theater productions, and worked as a church organist

and pianist. She earned a Masters Degree in Music Education from the Conservatory

of Music at University of Missouri-Kansas City, with a emphasis in music therapy. Mrs.

Rostohar has completed Levels 1 and 2 or Orff training, a methodology which

incorporates speech, song, composing, instrument playing, and movement . She has

been a music teacher for 19 years, and is excited to be at Crossroads Academy. In her

free time, Mrs. Rostohar enjoys working out, cooking, gardening, and traveling.

Jenee Nuelle

7-8th Grade STEM


Jenee Nuelle graduated from University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. After moving to Kansas City, she began teaching at the elementary level. During this time, Jenee earned an Educational Specialist degree in Administration, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Instructional Technology. Jenee has been teaching for 10 years prior to coming to Crossroads Academy, and is very happy to be a part of the CAKC family. In her free time Ms. Nuelle loves spending time with her two children, Kinzley and Kingston, on family adventures. She loves to travel, play softball, and relax on the water.
