This is Tyrion! He's a 7-year-old hound mix from the Animal Humane Society.
We adopted him while freshmen in college and named him after the Game of Thrones character, Tyrion Lannister.Â
He's been our baby since. Tyrion loves treats, toys, and squeaky tennis balls!
I care about your wellbeing in and outside of academia. I want you to feel supported, welcomed, and appreciated in our online space. As a teacher, I value life-long learning and leading with compassion and curiosity instead of judgement. Let's work together to make this year successful!
Hello and welcome! I'm so happy you're here. My name is Ms. Rhiannon (ree-ann-in) Farr and I will be your online English teacher for this semester. I grew up in Southern Minnesota (think 10 minutes from Iowa border) but moved to the Twin Cities to attend college. Currently, I live in Savage, MN with my partner whom I marry in September and our dog, Tyrion, who is pictured above.
My favorite classes in middle and high school were English. I loved being able to express myself through writing and connecting to character's through stories. My favorite book is The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein and it's been so since early high school. I wholeheartedly believe that reading gives us opportunities to see ourselves and/or our peers reflected in the text. Reading can provide experiences we may never get to see or be a part of in reality, and that builds our empathy skills as we begin to understand what others can-- or already do-- go through.
