I attended the University of Minnesota for both my undergraduate and graduate studies
My sister is my best friend, and she’s a professional dancer in California. I visit her often, and we always have a great time catching up and spending time together
I live in Minneapolis with my three amazing roommates - Shane, JRon, and Zach (not pictured). We met in college and have become like family.
I believe students learn best when they feel supported, included, and connected. In my online classroom, I focus on building strong relationships so students know they are seen and valued. When students feel safe and understood, they’re more willing to take risks, try new things, and grow.
I also focus on the importance of empathy, kindness, and communication. My goal is to create a positive community where students not only learn important life skills but also build the confidence and social-emotional tools they’ll carry with them for life.
My goal is to create a space where students can be their authentic selves, where they feel comfortable asking tough questions, laughing, and being genuine.
I’ve had the opportunity to teach in a variety of settings, both in person and online. I have spent part of my career as an elementary classroom teacher, working with students in traditional school settings. I have also worked for many years in online education, teaching life skills, supporting students as part of the special education team, and serving as an engagement specialist to help students feel connected and supported in their learning. Now, I’m well settled into my role as Seminar Teacher here at CCS.
I earned my Master’s degree in education from the University of Minnesota, and I bring with me not only my teaching experience but also my own background as an online student. I completed part of high school and part of college online, so I know firsthand the challenges students can face, as well as the unique opportunities that online learning can offer. These experiences help me understand my students’ perspectives and guide me in creating a classroom that is engaging, supportive, and flexible.
Most importantly, I believe families are partners in this process. My experiences allow me to support students in meaningful ways while also working alongside families to make sure each child feels successful, confident, and connected.
