My husband Jim and I have a hobby farm with goats, chickens, cats, dogs, and Bucky the donkey.
I love to grow things!
Buster and Grover keep us entertained.
Jim and I go to a lot of concerts. This was at the Yacht Club Music Festival in St. Paul last year.Â
I believe that everyone can learn, no matter their age, ability, or background, and education is never wasted.
I have two grown children, one living in Minneapolis with my two grandchildren, and one living in Seattle. I don't get to spend enough time with any of them, but we love getting together as often as we can. My gardens are my passion, and I run a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture--basically a subscription service for a weekly delivery of produce) in the summer. I love to be active, and enjoy skiing (XC and downhill), kayaking, hiking, and playing pickleball. In quieter moments I read and crochet. As I said above, my husband Jim and I live on a hobby farm in New York Mills. As a couple, we like to go on motorcycle and side by side trips, and to lots of concerts, and we are huge fans of the Minnesota Frost Professional Women's hockey team.
I have taught high school and community college English, both in-person and online, for a total of 36 years (!).
I earned my Bachelor's degree in English with minors in Secondary Education and French from Iowa State University, and I have a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing with a Poetry emphasis from Sierra Nevada College, as well as an additional 30+ graduate credits in English beyond that. (What can I say? I like being s a student as much as I like being a teacher!)
