I've never met a houseplant I didn't like. 🪴
I believe that meaningful learning starts with strong relationships. Students thrive when they feel seen, valued, and cared for — not just as learners, but as whole people. At CCS, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where students know they belong.
I encourage students to be curious, to ask questions, and to speak up for what they need. Learning how to advocate for themselves is a key part of their growth — both in school and in life. When students learn that it’s not only okay to ask for help, but a strength, they build confidence and independence as learners.
I don’t expect perfection; I expect progress. Mistakes are a natural and welcome part of the learning process. My goal is to help students develop not only academic skills, but also self-awareness, confidence, empathy, and a lifelong love of learning.
When students know we care about them, they begin to care more deeply about their learning — and about the world around them.
My family and I are nestled right by the St.Croix river on the MN/WI border. We've had quite a few moves over the past several years and are happy to be planted where we are for awhile! My husband and I have two kids at home along with our 8 year old Siberian Husky, Remi (she's probably our most energetic child!) You may see them peek their heads into meetings from time to time - one of the many benefits of getting to work remotely! My husband owns a bowfishing/musky fishing guide service so we spend LOTS of time on the water🌊. I love true crime podcasts🔊, discovering new recipes🍽️, arts/crafting🎨, binging a good tv series📺, reading and listening to books📚, being outside☀️, bowfishing🏹, hand lettering✍️, and escape rooms⏳. Music is one of my biggest passions, as well - I studied piano performance in college🎹!
This is my 10th year at Crosslake and I look forward to many more! I've worn quite a few hats in the program ranging from registrar to attendance, but working with students and leading our learning coach team brings me the most joy! I also bring along several years of experience working for Minnesota Transitions Charter Schools at Minnesota Virtual High School. My love of working with students grew during my time as a Youth Program intern/leader at my local church, prior to my professional career beginning.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Music, with a minor in Psychology and an emphasis on Music Therapy, from Winona State University.
