Superintendent's Message

August 18, 2021

Dear Cromwell Public Schools Community,

It is with sincere pleasure I welcome you and your children back to the 2021-2022 school year. The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly made the last couple of years a challenging time for everyone. The leadership team is working diligently to ensure that the upcoming school year schedule will be more reliable; however, we all know that this may change at any time. The faculty, staff and I will do our very best to keep you updated in a timely manner as changes arise and the safety and well-being of students and staff will always remain our first priority.

I would also like to take this moment to welcome the families who are new to Cromwell Public Schools. I do hope everyone is enjoying the remaining days of summer with your families. We are all eager to welcome students on Monday, August 30th for the first day of the 2021-2022 school year. Please see the link to the calendar for the new school year. Click here to view the calendar.

With respect to the availability of meals for your children, please know that all students will be able to obtain free school meals at their respective schools throughout the entire school year.

As we have prepared to open our schools, please be assured that all buildings have been cleaned and all classrooms/open spaces have been designed to align with the social distancing recommendations. The revised Reopening of Schools District Plan is subject to change in accordance with COVID-19 health data as well as restrictions that may also be imposed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, Department of Public Health (DPH), Governor Lamont, Acting Commissioner of Education, Charlene Russell-Tucker, the Cromwell Health Department and the district’s ability to secure the resources that are required for implementation of those requirements.

Click here to view the 2021-2022 School Year District Reopening Plan. The School Reopening Plans will be sent to you from the principal of your school soon.

“Placing Students First” is the mission statement for the Cromwell Public Schools and we have placed our students at the forefront of every decision we have made to ensure the safety, security and well-being of all.

Communication is a key component and is critical in ensuring a strong partnership with parents and guardians. We communicate frequently through our website (, our Facebook page, and through emails and phone messages via our automated call system. Please make sure you access the Parent Portal, once available, in PowerSchool to update all information to ensure we have correct contact information to relay important updates and communications. Please access the link below for age appropriate resources that can prepare your children for returning to school while following COVID-19 requirements.
