Superintendent's Message

August 16, 2022

Dear Cromwell Public Schools Community,

It is with sincere pleasure I welcome you and your children back for the 2022-2023 school year. We are so excited to have students in our classrooms and hallways filling them with their enthusiastic energy, beautiful smiles, and eyes wide-open looking forward to the future. Our faculty, support staff and administration strive to create a positive school climate by demonstrating mutual respect for everyone in our buildings. Our well-trained and dedicated teaching and support staff value our students and are committed to their success.

“Placing Students First” is the mission statement for the Cromwell Public Schools and we have placed our students at the forefront of every decision we have made to ensure the safety, security and well-being of all. The well-being of all students remains our first priority.

I do hope everyone is enjoying the remaining days of summer with your families. We are all eager to welcome students on Wednesday, August 31st for the first day of the 2022-2023 school year. Please click here to view the district school calendar. I would also like to take this moment to welcome the families who are new to Cromwell Public Schools. We look forward to meeting you and your children.

With respect to the availability of meals for your children, please know that all students will be able to obtain free meals at their respective schools for at least the beginning of the year. The State Department of Education has secured limited funding for school meals, which we will continue to provide to students until the funding runs out. We will communicate with you when you will have to begin purchasing meals again. If it applies to you, it remains of utmost importance for students to continue to complete the forms that are sent home on the first day of school indicating that your student may qualify to receive free or reduced meals throughout the school year.

Once available, please make sure you access the Parent Portal, in PowerSchool to update all information to ensure we have correct contact information to relay important updates and communications. Communication is a key component and is critical in ensuring a strong partnership with parents and guardians. We communicate frequently through our website (Cromwell.k12.ct.us), our Facebook page, and through emails and phone messages via our automated call system.

For information regarding COVID-19 guidance related to Cromwell Public Schools, please click here. If you have any additional questions, please contact CPS District Nurse Coordinator, Gillian Hanson at ghanson@cromwell.k12.ct.us.

On behalf of the dedicated team of administrators, directors, educators and support staff who are fortunate to serve the Cromwell Public Schools’ students, we thank you for allowing us to provide your children with a meaningful education that is focused on meeting the needs of our students as a whole child. We look forward to working with you throughout the year to ensure the success of all our students.

Please enjoy the remaining weeks of your summer.

Sincerely,

Enza Macri, Ed.D.
