When we hear rhyme in poetry it helps to create predictability and also brings rhythm or meter to the poem. The rhyme adds musicality to a poem and makes it flow.
Poems do not have to rhyme! However, it is a wonderful technique that leaves a lasting impression with the reader. It's one of the reasons why nursery rhymes or song lyrics are so easy to remember.
