Good Luck STAR Competitors!
FCCLA: The Ultimate Leadership Experience is a great way to meet people, develop confidence, and change the world! It's easy to become a member! Just follow these three easy steps:
Joining an FCS class is the first step to becoming a member. Any student 7th through 12th grade can join FCCLA. If you have already taken an FCS class you can talk to our adviser, Mrs. Thoene. She can talk you through paying dues, getting involved, and answer any questions you have concerning FCCLA.
Chapter dues are $20, and this amount will pay your national dues ($9), state dues ($4), district dues ($2), and chapter dues ($5). If you cannot pay all this money at one time, we will work out a time-frame that works for you. Now that you've paid your dues, go meet the members and officers! Talk to them about their favorite experiences, ask them questions, and find out about upcoming events.
Now you are "officially" a member! So, now go get involved! Join a committee, run for office, do a STAR project, try Power-of-One, and/or attend a Cluster meeting! Follow FCCLA social media, whether it's on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Read the Teen Times or Teen Talk magazine, and learn what's going on currently in FCCLA. Have fun!
Currently, the Crofton Chapter has 21 members. In the coming year we plan to increase our membership by 7 new members. We also aim to have every member participate in at least one of the following: a fundraiser, STAR, Power of One, a community Service Project, and/or another FCCLA activity. We plan to participate in Membership Madness in the next year and any other state membership campaigns.
We plan to grow our chapter in several ways in the upcoming year. Before school starts, we will send out personalized invitations to incoming 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. Personalized invitations will also be sent out to any new students coming to our school and students who've expressed interest in FCCLA, but never have joined. We also will be having a Kick-Off parting at the beginning of the year. This meeting will help us to retain and to recruit new members. Our chapter is going to be very present on social media as well. our Facebook page, Twitter Page, and Instagram are growing in size. Our posts are reaching more people and becoming more frequent. By using social media, we will be able to introduce more people to FCCLA in our community, and grow our chapter membership. Finally, in May we plan to have the outgoing and incoming officers visit the 6th grade students in their classroom at the elementary school and the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in their classrooms at the parochial school to introduce them to FCCLA and encourage them to consider joining our chapter in the fall.
Each month, one or several members of our chapter are recognized as the most valuable member of the month. Each month a different person or persons are recognized for the things they have done to help our chapter grow and help the community.
