Pre-Programme Hike With Teacher Amy
Our Principal, Mr Seet, and a group of Crest teachers went on a hike at the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve with Teacher Amy (Principal of Meridian International Learning Experience) on Sunday afternoon, before the Teacher Exchange Programme officially commenced on Monday. It was a great catch-up between friends and a 'warm-up' to a week of enriching learning.
Welcome, Meridian guests!
Crest Secondary warmly welcomes Teachers Amy, Loise and Rejoice from Meridian International Learning Experience for our annual Teacher Exchange Programme!
After an introductory dialogue with our School Leaders, Teachers Amy, Loise and Rejoice toured our school to learn more about Crest’s unique and ever-evolving curriculum.

We had traditional Nasi Ambeng for lunch!
Our Tampines Hub was a good showcase of how multiple agencies, amenities and services are integrated in a single location, circumventing the challenge of limited space, and providing convenience for Singaporeans.

Hiking at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
We ended the day with a hike at the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Hiking together is not just a way to get active and healthy, but it is also bonding time, when staff get to chit-chat and bond with one another.
In the morning, Mr Subash, our ex-VP (Academic), hosted the Meridian teachers and a group of Crest staff at his current school - ASPN Delta Senior School. It was heartening to learn about how the school prepares young adults with special needs for employment.
Thank you ASPN Delta Senior School for hosting us!

Learning about the Urban Planning of Singapore at the City Gallery
Learning at the Harmony in Diversity Gallery
The afternoon was spent at the Singapore City Gallery and Harmony in Diversity Gallery. Our guide, Ms Jean Teo, with her engaging explanations, made the Singapore City Gallery come alive for us. At the Harmony in Diversity Gallery, we were reminded of the importance of respect for other religions.
Mr Seet, our Principal, and Mr Sam Ho, our VP (Vocational Education), hosted our guests for dinner before Teacher Amy returned to Manila. We thank Teacher Amy for taking time off her busy schedule to spend a few days with us!
Thank you for visiting Crest!

Thank you for the Sikwate!
Teachers Loise and Rejoice demonstrated the preparation of ‘Sikwate’, the Filipino version of hot chocolate. It was the first time tasting such pure chocolate for many of us!
Discussing about our CCE curriculum.
Teachers Loise and Rejoice had a table talk with Mr Lin Zhiliang, our HOD (covering) of Character and Citizenship Education (CCE), to discuss about CCE in Singapore and the Philippines. Our guests also visited Mr Lin’s English language class and shared about their homeland with the students.
Teachers Loise and Rejoice visited the Singapore Discovery Centre, where the media-rich and interactive exhibits deepened their understanding of the Singapore Story.
Trying out the interactive exhibits in SDC.
A visit to Singapore wouldn’t be complete without a Durian Party! Mr Sam Ho not only treated everyone to a durian dinner, he also gave a tutorial on how to best eat durians.

The last 2 days of the TEP focused on the efforts to strengthen inclusivity in Singapore, as well as ground-up initiatives in tackling the food wastage problem in our country.
Teachers Loise and Rejoice visited the Adventist Active Centre at Golden Peony, where they learnt about the centre’s efforts to keep the elderly socially and physically active. Two residents in the block of studio units also welcomed the teachers into their homes and shared inspiring life stories with them. Their heartfelt sharings connected many dots of learning that the Meridian teachers had in the past few days.
Thank you for sharing your stories with us!
Together with a group of Crest teachers, the Meridian teachers participated in a Fridge Restock activity organised by SG Food Rescue. They learnt about the food wastage issue in Singapore, and the ground efforts to reduce this problem while helping the needy at the same time. They also volunteered at Willing Hearts, a soup kitchen, by helping with the packing of food and some logistical needs. These two activities were eye-opening experiences for everyone.
The TEP concluded with a lunch at Amber West, located at ITE College West, where some of our alumni are currently studying at. We hope Teachers Loise and Rejoice would bring back fond memories of the TEP, just like how the Crest teachers did.
