Within education, accessibility is the process of planning and presenting lessons, activities, and educational experiences such that students are able to participate in a way that makes learning meaningful for them. Many students are able to participate in the lessons and activities exactly as their teacher planned. Some students, however, may struggle with participation unless their teacher thoughtfully designs the lesson to account for the nature of the student’s struggle. Accessibility occurs when staff purposefully provides the correct supports in the form of tools and options which allows for meaningful learning to happen.
Once you have identified a tool, you can explore the Accessible Design Loan Library to check it out for use.
