Hi! I’m Melissa Koster, Literacy Coach at the University of Hartford Magnet School. I joined the UHMS community in 2024, bringing with me more than 20 years of experience in education. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work as a Kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade, and 4th grade teacher, as well as an Instructional Coach and Intervention Coordinator.

My greatest passion is helping children become confident, successful readers. I created this website to support families by sharing literacy resources, reading tips, educational articles, activities, and ideas that make reading meaningful and enjoyable at home.
