Late nights are such a sacred space. I’ve had some of my most peaceful moments, deepest conversations, and heaviest aches well after the sun has gone down.
The genesis for The Midnight Hour Anthology took root in my mind more than a year ago. I’m so intrigued by story prompts and themes as a writer, and wanted to probe the confines further: Instead of a general theme, I also wanted a time constraint. One hour to set a story within. Sixty minutes, meet the sacred space of midnight. In the pages that follow, readers will wade through grief, humor, tension, and more.
The winners and honorable mentions flexed their writing muscles to bring us a range of tales that stick. Equal in interest to the stories are the question-and-answer sections following each winning story. The skill and voice that delivered the pieces extends into the Q&As. I found myself smiling more than once.
Thank you to all who submitted a piece to Creation Magazine’s first-ever anthology. It’s been a special journey to see creatives pluck up a concept and make it their own. I invite everyone to consider their own answer to the question I asked each of the winners: Where do you wish to be found during your ideal midnight hour?
(Mine would be reading a book I can’t put down. Chocolate would also need to be involved.)
Cheers,
