Darla has been in the horse business her entire life. Her dad, Charlie Ridley, trained racehorses for many years with her by his side. Darla, herself trained thoroughbred racehorses for 15 years with a license in 18 states.
While racing thoroughbred racehorses in Tampa, Florida, she met her future husband. Tim, who trained rope horses and exercised racehorses. The two of them rodeoed in high school, then IPRA, PRCA, WPRA, as well as open rodeos while also training racehorses together for many years before settling in Oklahoma, where they still live today.
Darla became frustrated with not finding a saddle pad that was not only comfortable for the horse but allowed a close fit for the saddle. She decided to develop a pad that satisfied what she felt was needed, so with the input from Tim and Charlie, they came up with a pad that is today is known as "Schneider Performance Pads."
Schneider Performance Pads officially became a business in 2010; at that time some of her close friends in the barrel racing industry used them to test their durability and fit. Today, this includes not only many of the top racers in the industry but also top ropers who use them and endorse them.
Schneider Performance Pads are all hand-made by Darla; she is the sole developer, owner, and operator of the entire business.
