HOW DO CATS SEE IN THE DARK?

INTRODUCTION

Cats can do lots of things like purring, meowing, and also playing with toys. But the question that you all been wating for is "How Do Cats See In The Dark?"

HUNTING

How do cats see when hunting? Cats often hunt at night and they need night time vision. Their eyes have an extra layer.

Cats have excellent hunting skills like night vision that allows them to catch their prey. Their night vision lasts from dusk to dawn.

EYELIDS

Do cats have the same eyelids as us? Cats can't see like humans can, but cat's eyes work the same as us and cats have the same eyelid as us.

The entire structure of cats eyes have the ability to see in the darkness like the shape of a human. A cat's pupils widen in the dark to see more light.

DIFFERENT THAN HUMANS

Cats have fewer eye muscles to change the shape of their eyelid.

Cats can see a wider view than humans so they can hunt things like mice.

Cats can't see things that are close to them very well, so they need to be farther away. The way cat's eyes have adapted to their environment is that they have an extra layer of clear white foam. This layer makes more light go into their eyes.

CONCLUSION

Thank you for viewing my big question "How Do Cats See In The Dark?"

A cat can see at night to be able to find its prey.

This is a cat trying to concentrate to pounce on its prey during the day. At night its pupil's open very wide to take in more light.

Cats are active at night, but they can also search for prey during the day.

These photos compare the shape of a cat's eye to a human's eye. Notice how the pupil's (black dots) are different.

This diagram shows the inside view of a cat's eye.
