How Do Dogs Communicate

Introduction

Dogs can do lots of things like barking, growling, and playing aggressively. Aggressively means rough or hard. But the question you've all been waiting for is "How Do Dogs Communicate!"

Communicating With Humans

Dogs can communicate with humans by barking, growling, and yipping. Dogs also tell humans what they want by biting or begging. For example, when dogs are hungry or thirsty they whine, beg, or pester you.

Dogs also communicate their feelings in both verbal and nonverbal ways. If the dog is mad or sad they will growl, whine, or they will have their ears perked up. They will also have their tail between their legs.

Communicating With Other Dogs

Dogs can communicate with their own kind by sniffing other dogs, barking at each other, growling at each other, and yipping at each other. Dogs can communicate by eye gaze, sniffing privates, barking, growling, body movement, and taste.

Communicating With Other Animals

Dogs can communicate with animals by barking at them, growling at them and showing them their moods, like “Back off!” or “Hey, come over here!” They sniff each other's privates, and also mark their territory by urinating. Also some dogs play aggressively.

Many people think if a dog is wagging its tail it is happy. Sometimes that is not true. A dog can become very tense and wag its tail high over its back, a sign the dog may be alert or defensive (this may vary for dogs with tightly-curled tails, such as pugs.

Conclusion

My conclusion is make sure you see your pet communicating with you or other animals. Their sniffing, barking, yipping and growling is just their way of communicating.

These dogs look like they are on the beach. They might be trying to say, "Do you want to play with me?"

This dog is barking at something. Maybe this dog is barking at a squirrel or a chipmunk.

These dogs are playing aggressively. They're probably trying to say that they want to play.

These dogs are chasing each other around. Maybe they are trying to say, "Do you want to chase me?"

This dog looks like its happy or relaxed. Maybe its trying to tell us that it's one happy dog.
