ABOUT THE PS5

The PS5 was released on November 12, 2020 and has sold 7.8 million as of May, 2021. The PS5 has 120 fps (fps stands for frames per second) and an 8k video output that supports 2160p (p stands for pixels) and has 120Hz (Hz stands for hertz). The PS5 has a Zen 2 processor which is capable of 3D audio and 8k video output.

The PS5 also has something called Ray-tracing, Ray-tracing is if you see a sun ray coming through a window or shadows from an object, person, or animal.

ABOUT THE PS4

The PS4 was released on November 13, 2013 and has sold 115.2 million as of May, 2021. The PS4 has 60fps and has 60Hz with a 4k resolution that supports 1080p. The PS4 also has a AMD jaguar chip that is capable of 1080p and HD video (for high-definition video).

The PS4 also has Ray-tracing, just like the PS5.

COMPARE AND CONTRAST

Now let's compare and contrast to see what is better. One example is the PS5 has 120fps and also has 120Hz and the PS4 only has 60fps and 60Hz.

Having a higher FPS is really important for making sense of the game that you're playing. When you have low fps like 10fps it’s going to be delayed. For example, if you are playing a game and you were running somewhere and when you were running then you go back to somewhere where you just were but you didn’t touch anything then that would mean your frames are low. So that's why having high frames like 120fps is important.

Why is Hz important? Having high Hz is important because it allows you to react faster when you are playing. For example if you had low Hz and you were turning and it took longer than it’s supposed to be that would mean your Hz are low.

Another example is the PS5 has a 8k video output that supports 2160p and the PS4 has a 4k resolution that supports 1080p.

The PS5’s Zen 2 processor is better than the PS4’s AMD jaguar chip because the PS5’s Zen 2 processor has more capabilities than the AMD jaguar chip. For example Zen 2 processor is capable of 3D audio and 8k video output and the AMD jaguar chip is only capable of 1080p and HD video.

THE FUTURE

Now we know the PS5 is better than PS4. But I wonder what the PS6 will be like. What improvements will be made? Will it be a lot better than the PS5? Will it be a little bit better than the PS5? Will it be a little bit worse than the PS5? So we’ll just have to wait and see.
