The Lost Locker Breakout Family Challenge!!!!!!

Why use Breakout EDU?

Watch this quick video, then scroll down to start your game.

Why is "productive struggle" important to learning?

Struggle is important. How long your child is willing to struggle to solve a problem is an important life skill.

So.....I'm going to give you very little guidance to get started. Enjoy the struggle together, and when you Break Out, take the End of Game picture and email it to me. I will happily post those pictures on our web page. Want to increase the challenge level? Start the timer below, and try to break out in 45 minutes or less.

45 minute timer

For extra challenge, time your Breakout Challenge!

Now open your bag of clues.

Each item in the bag will lead you to the combination for a lock, or the answer to a digital lock.

LOOK CLOSELY! Some hints are written in invisible ink...do you know how to read them? (FREE HINT! I provided a UV Pen in the bag to read those!)

You will have to open 5 locks and win the Digital Game. Ready? Breakout!!!

Key Lock

That's hidden somewhere in your bag...

Directional Lock

Use the Schedule and Clock to find the combination. LOOK CLOSELY! The right combo will be 5 arrows long.

4 digit lock

Check out the note from the librarian for a clue on how to get this 4-digit number. LOOK CLOSELY!

3 digit lock

Find the torn sheets and put them together... hmmmm.... what number could that mean????

The combination Lock

You don't have to figure out what the combination is, you just need to learn how to open that kind of lock!

To learn how to open your combination lock, watch this video...

Mission to Mars

Need Hints??? Spoiler Alert...if you want to try it without HINTS, then don't scroll down!!!

DIRECTIONAL LOCK: Notice where the rover is in each picture. Where did it move from one to the next? Notice the date stamp.

Number Lock

This is coding language. The first number will either be 8 or 5. If the heat shied is on, it will be 8. If it's not, it will be 5. Get it? Check the picture to see if the heat shield is on. Then type in either 8 or 5.

In this picture, we can see that the autopilot is turned on. That means that the last number has to be 4. Do you see why?

The ABC lock is a cipher. There are two clues under each paragraph. The first clue is "6-2-4". That means in the first paragraph, you look for the 6th line, second word, 4th letter. That should be a "C". The final word will spell out something that has to do with Mars.

The COLOR lock says "Counting the Days". Put them in order from shortest mission to the longest. You'll have to figure out Curiosity, they only give a start and end.

The SHAPE lock gives a checklist...which part of the rover completes which item on the list?

The last ABC lock might require you to do some research to find out the name!
