Hello! My name is Penny Newton. I am a graduate of East Carolina University, I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Reading. I'm certified to teach K-6 Elementary Education and K-12 Reading. I taught second grade for three years before teaching third grade here at WJ Gurganus. I am going into  my 14th year of teaching third grade! My husband has had a successful business in Havelock since 1992, so we are both vested in this wonderful community. My hobbies are running, cooking, reading on the beach and playing with our dog Stryker! I love living in Eastern NC and can't imagine any better place to be!
