Coding-Forever Loops-Battle Bots Kit
Objective:
Students will design and decorate a cup that fits over their Sphero BOLT, attach a balloon to the cup, and code the robot using a forever loop. The goal is to be the last robot standing with an intact balloon
Build & Decorate:
Each student (or team) decorates a plastic cup that fits over the Sphero BOLT.
A balloon is attached to the cup, positioned so it is vulnerable to being popped by other Sphero BOLTs.
Code the BOLT:
Students create a forever loop in their code that drives the BOLT continuously, adding random or strategic movements to make their BOLT unpredictable.
Optional: Add collision detection or random direction changes to enhance the challenge.
Game Setup:
Place all the decorated BOLTs with balloons into the arena.
The BOLTs move around and try to pop other balloons while protecting their own.
Winning Criteria:
The last BOLT with an unpopped balloon is declared the winner.
Encourage students to think about movement strategy (e.g., evasive maneuvers or aggressive attack patterns).
Test the durability of the cup attachment to ensure it stays in place during the battle.
