The program and curriculum, Mental Health Matters, was created by Ambassador Girl Scout Breona Pizzuta for her 100-hour Gold Award Project. Her Gold Award aims to address the issues of mental health in adolescents at school. Her general focus will be on student stressors and pressures that have negative effects. She will help students build coping mechanisms and resilience. This student developed program and curriculum Breona invented will be passed on to other schools with helpful techniques and lessons that have been proven beneficial by mental help professionals such as counselors and researchers. This will help students have fewer negative thoughts and teach them positive skills and ways to manage stress.
