Dear Families,

We live in an interesting time and planning for Kindergarten may be a bit different this coming year for everyone. I am very excited to see what this fall brings for all of us and truly looking forward to meeting you and your family. At Crane Elementary, we feel very blessed to teach your child and want only the best for the beginning of their schooling time.

School may look a little different than a typical year in the fall and honestly, no one knows exactly what that could look like just yet. As we get firm answers we will pass that information onto you, until then please consider the following information to help guide you as you prepare throughout the summer for kindergarten to begin.

Tips to help you prepare your child for Kindergarten:

Help your child develop independence at home

Teach your child responsibility and self-help skills

Develop and follow a routine at home

Read aloud to your child daily

Play meaningful literacy games/activities including making sure your child can recognize some letter and numbers

This is an extensive list of guidance about preparing for Kindergarten. I created this list to encourage the most successful start for Kindergarteners. I often suggest families read through and check off things that your child is already doing consistently without help, then mark the few areas that may still some extra practice over the summer.
