Year 7 & 8

CDS

Hi all!

We have put this website together to help both Y7 & 8 students and parents navigate learning and to give ideas on how to fill in the days. Click through the links on the top of the page to find a range of digital resources.

Not all the learning and activities need to be online. Here is a brilliant link with tons of ideas to keep busy at home that don't need a device, using everyday skills and objects.

Now is also a great time to be reminded of being good digital citizens, who are respectful online, and remember everything leaves a trail.

Individual teachers will be communicating with their class on specific learning activities they are wanting them to complete via emails or google classroom.

We are not expecting homes to completely recreate a classroom environment, however your support with learning tasks is greatly appreciated. Please don't stress if the girls are unable to complete any tasks.

Another great page to look at is this facebook page made by School Kit. It has resources for parents and teachers to use at home while COVID-19 keeps us in isolation. Posting beautiful, educational content four times daily for the duration of the shutdown. Check it out.

Parents - google classroom

The majority of the girls are communicating with teachers via google classroom. Here is a quick video that may guide you with how to use it with your girls.

It is up to you and your families how you want to structure your day, but below is a suggested outline of what your day could look like.

9:30am Ready to do some school work

30 minutes of each of these things:

  • Maths (Set Teacher tasks, basic facts learning, websites)

  • Reading (Set Teacher tasks, personal reading)

  • Writing (Set Teacher task, Daily journal)

  • Be Creative ( Music, Art, Drama, Dance)

  • Be Helpful (Jobs around home to help out)

  • Be Active (Yoga, Pilates, Walking, Running, Biking, Gardening)

You may want to create a daily tasks sheet, fill it in with the necessary details and have a parent/caregiver sign it off. Here is an example below, feel free to make a copy of the google doc.
