Welcome to Physical Education at the Haggerty School. My name is Tom Materazzo but the students call me “Coach.” I am your child’s P.E. teacher and I’ve been teaching since 2004. I was born and raised in Cambridge and attended Cambridge public schools. In addition to teaching at Haggerty I also work as adjunct faculty at Lesley University with the Threshold Program, an educational program for neurodiverse college age students. I’m currently raising three children and have coached numerous youth athletic teams.
My name is Jim Edgehill, and I will be your child’s physical education teacher for the 2025–2026 school year. I am currently teaching Adaptive Physical Education students as well as the 5th-grade classes.
I have been teaching Physical Education in Cambridge Public Schools for over 27 years, and I truly enjoy helping students grow not only in their physical skills but also in their confidence, teamwork, and love for being active. My favorite part of teaching PE is seeing students discover new activities they enjoy and building lifelong healthy habits.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, long walks, and reading. Growing up in Cambridge, I learned the importance of community, and that’s something I try to bring into my teaching every day. I attended Salem State College, where I earned my undergraduate degree, and I also hold a Master’s degree plus 60 credits.
