- Caucus: An alternative to the ordinary "primary" election system used by some states. In a caucus, voters get together in person to cast their ballots through discussion and debate. Caucuses can take several hours.
- Convention: A gathering of the political party to formally decide on its nominee.
- Natural Born Citizen: A citizen who became a citizen automatically at the time they were born. Everyone born in the USA is a natural-born citizen. Everyone whose parents are citizens is also a natural-born citizen.
