Cambridge Public Schools is committed to increasing Computer Science learning for all students. Educational Technology teachers collaborate with members of the Technical Services Department to offer all sixth grade students an opportunity to participate in a variety of computer science experiences in what we call a “CS Playground.” June 2023 was our 4th year of this annual event. The goals of the Computer Science Playground include:
Exposure to computer science concepts and ways of thinking
Spark an interest in computer science topics
Create community and school connections
Students spend approximately two hours rotating through four rooms (see activities below) with different types of computer science experiences. Much like on a typical playground, we hope students at our CS Playground will be able to self-select an activity in each room, socialize with peers and community partners, and be hands-on in their experiences.
Thank you to our 2024 Community Partners
We are currently looking for additional Community Partners who are affiliated with the Kendall Square Association, local Universities, or nearby Computer Science companies.
