I also have two, active twin boys, Kai and Shae.
Kai (in the green) loves the Celtics, Red Sox, and Dodgers. He also loves to play basketball and baseball. Shae (orange) loves the Yankees, just like his daddy. He plays basketball, baseball, and soccer. Shae and Kai have been coming to help mommy in the classroom since they were babies! Kai especially likes shooting hoops at The FMA, while Shae loves to come and do science experiments with Betty Snell Fraser! They can't wait to be a part of our FMA family this year too!
My name is Alison Basu.
I love to giggle and laugh. I love to sing songs (I apologize in advance my songs are always off key) and to drink Dunkin' Donuts or Starbucks coffee. I love to work out, go to the beach, and anything to do involving palm trees, stars, moons, and butterflies. I believe living in a rainbow world of kindness.
I have been teaching for 24 years.
I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees in Early Education from Wheelock College. This is my 22 year at the Maynard / Fletcher Maynard Academy. The FMA is truly my home. There is nothing more important than building a classroom community. I love our parents, caregivers, students, and all the teachers who work in our room. I want all of us to feel as if we are one big happy family!
Mr. Hebard became a teacher after he worked in accounting-related jobs for 25 years. He always wanted to be a teacher because he likes to engage students and watch them grow! At Fletcher Maynard Academy in Cambridge, he is the building substitute. He has three other teaching roles as well-- 4th grade science, science songs to kindergarten and pre-kindergarten classes, and simple engineering in his maker space. Mr. Hebard will celebrate his 30th wedding anniversary on October 6, 2020! Mr. and Mrs. Hebard have a grown son who works as an electrical engineer.
In Junior Kindergarten, we learn about the changing seasons. As of late, it seems like our world is constantly changing too!
Much like the seasons and these ever-pressing times, know that your Junior Kindergartner will grow and change as well.
By the end of the year, they will be lifelong learners, excited explorers, fierce friends, and caring community members.
I am so excited to see these changes and I know you are too!
