Reading over the summer is so important! All Baldwin students will be receiving six books. Why six? Six is the magic number that helps prevent summer slide. Summer slide can happen when students don’t pick up a book over the summer. They actually risk losing some of the progress they had made during the previous school year.
It doesn’t matter how the books are read. We want students to be reading any way they can. They can read on a computer, a tablet, a book, a newspaper, comic books, magazine, lists, and so much more. All reading is good reading. We encourage students to read books, listen to audio books and listen to their grown-ups read aloud.
You may work on the Summer Reading Star Chart or read at least six books over the Summer to get your Summer Reading Certificate and prize. You can read the books the district is giving you or choose your own! You can keep track of the books you read on a list of your choosing.
