Film I: A Visual Language

William Shakespeare once said, “All the world’s a stage…” and film has truly made his words possible. If you enjoy watching, discussing and critiquing films, then this is the class for you! Through this course students will utilize the medium of film to gain a deeper appreciation through a three-part framework. Students will observe film clips and entire films through a literary aspect, a dramatic aspect, and a cinematic aspect. In addition, the course will examine films by genre and analyze the typical characteristics found in specific genres. Students will also learn how to review a film in the same way as a professional critic.
