Most of the novels, plays, and works of nonfiction listed on the following pages will be covered in some fashion during the 2022 – 2023 academic year. “Cover” means reading the work in class, assigning the work for independent reading and scheduling student conferences for periodic check-ins or requiring students to submit a journal log, etc. “Cover” also means reading select passages in the text for instructional purposes such as identifying imagery, imitating the author’s style, providing examples of voice, teaching irony, etc.
