Western Branch High School Band Program

Welcome to the Western Branch High School Bands Website! This is to be used as a resource for parents, students, and community members who support or participate in WBHS Band Program. The WBHS Band Program offers multiple ensembles for students to be apart of: Band 9, Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble, Marching Band, Pep Band, and Jazz Band. The bands play multiple concerts a year, perform throughout the city, and state. Students in the WBHS program have been selected to participate in district band, All-State, and numerous honor ensembles across the state.

The mission of the music education program of the Chesapeake Public Schools it to empower students to experience music as a source of personal enrichment, as a vehicle for the constructive expression of emotion, and as a complex intellectual discipline.

Music education is an integral part of the overall curriculum of Chesapeake Public Schools.

Music has the power of producing a certain effect on the moral character of the soul, and if it has the power to do this, it is clear that the young must be directed to music and must be educated in it.
