Meet the Instructors
Carrie Longworth has been teaching high school English--first in Norfolk and now in Chesapeake--for twenty years, including a variety of AP courses. This is her fourth year teaching Dual Enrollment for TCC and her second year doing so via Chesapeake Virtual Academy. She is continually impressed with the creativity and dedication to excellence she sees each day in her students. She considers herself fortunate to spend her days researching ideas and work shopping writing.
Christopher Lessick grew up outside of Pittsburgh, PA and moved to VA in 2000. He started teaching at Currituck County High School and then came to Great Bridge High in the fall of 2001. Having taught various English courses, with most being senior-level, and the past twelve almost exclusively DE College Comp, Mr. Lessick feels very blessed with the motivated and dedicated students who sign up for the course, and whose intelligence, passion, and creativity continue to impress him.
Great Bridge College Composition is excited to expand its student inquiry project to a fully licensed TEDx convention. Students participated in a two day audition experience, sharing their inquiry ideas in a formal TED style talk to a panel of faculty members. Eleven students were chosen to present to an audience on Wednesday, June 3rd, when Great Bridge will debut TEDx Great Bridge High School Youth. Their talks will be recorded and shared online as a TEDx "idea worth spreading."
