Cabot Robotics is the competitive robotics team at Cabot High School, and we're dedicated to making STEM an exciting, hands-on adventure.

Our team takes on the VEX Robotics Competition, a global challenge where we design, build, and program a new robot from scratch every year. This is where classroom concepts become real as students work together to solve problems, test new ideas, and compete against other teams.

The VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) is a global program that challenges teams to design, build, and program a robot to compete in a game-based engineering challenge.

From Concept to Competition

Our team's mission is to develop a comprehensive solution to this annual challenge. This process transforms classroom STEM concepts into tangible results. Team members apply principles of engineering, physics, and computer science in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

A Specialized, Team-First Approach

Success in VRC requires a multidisciplinary effort. Our team is structured so that members can specialize in key areas—such as mechanical design, software development, CAD modeling, or competition strategy—while working together toward a single, common objective.

The Competition Pathway

The VRC season consists of a series of tournaments throughout the year. Our journey follows three main stages:

Regional & State Tournaments: We compete at local and state-level events to refine our robot and strategy.
National Events: Top teams may also compete at national championships.
VEX Worlds: The season culminates every April at the VEX Robotics World Championship, where champions from state and national events compete against the best teams from across the globe.

I'm new to robotics. Where can I start?

Our team is built on a foundation of diverse talents and collaborative energy. We are organized into several specialized sub-teams, offering members the flexibility to contribute to multiple areas that align with their personal interests and professional goals.

Core opportunities include:

Build Team: Engineer and construct our physical systems.
Programming Team: Develop and implement software solutions.
Challenge Team: Design and execute winning competition strategies.

We foster a strong mentorship environment where you will collaborate closely with experienced members, gaining new skills and valuable insights as you go.

In addition to our primary work, we actively participate in sponsor-backed VEX Online Challenges. These projects are fantastic opportunities to demonstrate expertise in specialized fields such as CAD Modeling, Product Photography, and Website Design.

No matter your current area of expertise or previous experience, we have a vital role for you. We welcome all skill levels and are excited to see what you can bring to the team.

What is competition like?

Our team competes in a series of regional VEX Robotics tournaments across the state, with the primary objective of securing a qualification for the State Championship in the spring. At the state-level event, teams that earn a World Championship qualifying award will advance to the VEX Worlds tournament, the pinnacle of the competition season. All events are run in a formal tournament style, where our robot will compete through a series of qualification matches before advancing to a high-stakes, bracket-style elimination round.

Cabot High School: Meeting Times (Times May Vary)

- Monday through Thursday: 3:15pm - 6:00pm (times may vary)
- Friday: Off Day; Unless it is a competition weekend (times to be determined)
