Beginning is an introductory ensemble that emphasizes the development of coordination, rhythm, strength, and flexibility, while also improving physical posture. Students will learn various dance techniques, emphasizing ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, and somatics as well as study the history of dance. Students will study the language of dance, create their own movement, and participate in performances. Students are required to wear black athletic wear, proper footwear and attend and report on a selected number of concerts throughout the city.   

Prerequisite: None. No audition required! Enrollment in Dance is a commitment for the entire school year.

Intermediate is a continuation of Beginning. Students will increase their strength, flexibility, and coordination as well as further developing ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, and somatics. Students will also study the language and history of dance, create their own movement, and participate in performances. Students are required to wear black athletic wear, proper footwear and attend and report on a selected number of concerts throughout the city.  

Prerequisite: Beginning. Students with previous experience are encouraged to audition. Enrollment in Dance is a commitment for the entire school year.

This ensemble is a continuation of Intermediate. Students will increase their strength, flexibility, and coordination as well as further developing ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, world dance forms and somatics. Students will also study the language and history of dance, create their own movement, and participate in performances. The focus of this course is to develop a broad range of dynamic qualities required for physical clarity and focus. Students are required to wear black athletic wear, proper footwear and attend and report on a selected number of concerts throughout the city. 

Prerequisite: Beginning/Intermediate or an audition and consent of the instructor. Students with previous experience are encouraged to audition. Enrollment in dance is a commitment for the entire school year.

This ensemble is a continuation of our Studio Ensemble. Students will continue to strengthen their dance technique, study the language and history of dance, choreograph and prepare for performances.  They will be encouraged to communicate personal feelings, thoughts, ideas, and concepts through the skillful use of dance movement and to present their choreography in a student-led concert. Students will maintain a portfolio which contains written and/or visual examples of their work.  Students are required to wear black athletic wear, proper footwear and attend and report on a selected number of concerts throughout the city. 

Prerequisite:  By audition and consent of the instructor. Students with previous experience are encouraged to audition.  Enrollment in dance is a commitment for the entire school year.

Guys & Dolls is our school’s pre professional dance company, which was founded to help the most advanced students develop their dance skills while providing performance opportunities to showcase their talents. Students develop dance technique, creativity, professionalism, and leadership skills as they share experiences and build memories that will last a lifetime.

Students will study all dance techniques, the language and history of dance, in addition to choreography and preparation for performances. They will be encouraged to communicate personal feelings, thoughts, ideas, and concepts through the skillful use of dance movement and to present their choreography to selected audiences and in a student-led concert. Students will concentrate on developing technical mastery, and discovering their artistic voice. Students will maintain a portfolio which contains written and/or visual examples of their work. Opportunities are supplemented by extensive series of performances and master classes by such outstanding professional dance companies as Alvin Ailey, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Giordano Dance Chicago, Thodos Dance Chicago and many more.  Students are required to wear black dance wear, proper footwear and attend and report on a selected number of concerts throughout the city.  

Prerequisite:  A grade of B or higher in Stage or an audition and consent of the instructor. Students with previous experience are encouraged to audition.  Enrollment in dance is a commitment for the entire school year.
