The CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) is the main public transportation system in Chicago. It runs both buses and trains, also known as the "L" (short for "elevated"). The CTA has 8 train lines—each with a color name like Red, Blue, and Yellow—and over 100 bus routes. The trains run 24/7 on some lines, and buses go to many neighborhoods all across the city. The CTA is mostly used by people living in Chicago to get to school, work, or fun places. It’s part of the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), just like Metra and Pace.
