Planning for our future means figuring out what the best match High Schools are for each of us depending on our interests, needs, and wants. It also means figuring out this sometimes confusing application in Chicago. Your School Counselors are here to help!

Many CPS High Schools offer a free summer program called High School Connection to help students become familiar with the school before starting in the Fall. Please fill out this form to let CPS know if you might be interested in your child attending. You can learn more about High School connection on this website and on the flyer posted below.
The GoCps Rolling waitlist opens at 10:00 am on March 30, 2026 for all High School programs, and closes in January 2027 for Choice programs and in September 2026 for Selective Enrollment programs. This means you could get a waitlist offer anytime between these dates if you have a waitlist number. Check the parent/caregiver email listed first on your GoCps account on Tuesdays and Fridays after 10:00 am if you are wanting any waitlist offers and currently have a waitlist #. Tuesday offers expire at 11:59 pm on Thursday and Friday offers expire at 11:59 pm on Monday. You must log into your GoCps account to accept a waitlist offer once it is given to you before it expires. The lower your waitlist #, the better chance you have of getting an offer, but nothing is guaranteed.
The GoCps Rolling waitlist that opens at 10:00 am on March 30th is also for students that want to add High School programs to their existing application that they are not currently waitlisted for. If you add more programs to your application, remember to re-rank all of your choices in the order you truly want to attend. Some programs might have spots available and give you an offer right away and some might give you a waitlist # if you qualify to apply. Accepting any GoCps offer automatically declines the current GoCps offer you've previously accepted, so only accept a new offer that you want more than your current offer.
