I am entering my eighteenth year of teaching high school classes. This year I am teaching AP Computer Science Principles and Civic Action Through Computer Science, our social science-focused data science class. I am also a Lane esports coach and have the privilege to work with the city Chicraft champion Minecraft team.
I strongly believe in the interconnectedness of learning in different fields and I share that belief with my students. This philosophy has been a part of my life even before teaching, having graduated with a BA in History at UIC with minors in Mathematics, Theater, and English (I really liked to learn!). I spent three years living in Japan, first as an exchange student and then as an English teacher. To teach high school in Chicago, I obtained certification and a MA in Secondary Education at Roosevelt University. I previously taught high school courses in mathematics and social science.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Louella, and our young sons, Blake and Clark. I also enjoy many types of gaming, all things Star Wars, and consuming an endless list of audiobooks.
