The Senn Weekly is committed to providing an informational and safe publication for all members of the Senn community and will employ an editorial board which consists of the Editor in Chief and the column managing editors. This board will have the right to approve, refuse, edit, and vote on materials submitted to ensure the Senn Weekly follows all policy and creates a creative and informative paper.
FREEDOM OF THE PRESS
The Senn Weekly believes that freedom of the press is necessary to provide reliable and inclusive information for all. Therefore:
The Senn Weekly will function to primarily serve the students, teachers, and staff of Senn High School without obligation to outside influence.
PROOFREADING
The editorial board will provide a thorough read through of all submitted content and correct any and all errors such as spelling and grammar mistakes before returning the work to the writers to correct.
The editorial board determines the content prior to publication and will not submit profanity, obscene content, misinformation, violations of personal privacy of students both at or outside of Senn, violation of staff or teacher privacy, or the encouragement of violence at the school.
All submitted works may be subject to both AI and plagiarism checks before publication to ensure all work is original and created by the Senn Weekly writers.
The editorial team will not approve content that contains attack material regarding students, staff, teachers, religion, gender, age, disabilities, ethnicity, race, or culture to ensure that all readers and members of the Senn Weekly team feel safe and comfortable without incidence.
The editorial board reserves the right to refuse material that violates the ideals of the Senn Weekly.
The editorial board has the right to vote to change policy at any time with a discussion that includes writers, photographers, and staff members as well as school administrators.
CONTROVERSIAL TOPICS
Multiple perspectives are always provided to prevent bias from changing the presented information.
All information regarding the school, community, city, state, national, and international news will be presented factually to inform, not to persuade or endorse.
