My Assignment and Flight Check is where your child should go FIRST when they log into RAZ Kids. Have them aim to complete 2-3 recordings a day before exploring Level Up! and Reading Room.
Flight check is where your child will RECORD sight word and alphabet assessments and read-aloud recordings that help teachers determine if your child is ready for the next reading level. Our goal for grade-level independent reading is at least Reading Level C.
My Assignment is where your teacher has assigned books AT your child’s level AND slightly above to help them grow as a reader. These books might also be relevant to what we are studying together as a class.
Level Up! Is where students can read and respond to books to move up reading levels. HOWEVER, your teacher will not use this data to assess your child’s reading level - we can only assess their levels based on the reading we can HEAR. So if your child moves up a level in this section, we may move them back to the level that is more appropriate.
Reading Room is where your child can explore many books just for fun! They might be on-level, lower level, or higher level but will not be assessed.
All messages your teacher sends will go to the little speech-bubble icon on the bottom of the home screen. Each time students submit a recording (whether for sight words, alphabet letters, or reading a book) teachers will send a message awarding points and list the next steps and skills to work on in order to improve.
My Stats is where you and your child can check out your progress and achievements from their time spent in the RAZ-Kids app!
Star Zone is where your child can build a character or rocket using the points awarded by their teacher based on completion of items in My Assignment and Flight Check.
