PRINCIPAL ELIGIBILITY APPLICATIONS WILL OPEN ON SEPTEMBER 22
The October 2024 CPS Principal Eligibility Process will introduce the redesigned process.
The new process will ensure candidates for principalships in District-run Chicago Public Schools (CPS) meet high standards of competency and professionalism, and embody the qualities and characteristics the District values most in its educational leaders.
The process will ask candidates to demonstrate evidence of experiences related to domain and components outlined in the CPS School Leadership Framework and will be assessed on critical skills and abilities through relevant activities.

Step 1: Online Application Opens: September 22, 2025
Step 1: Online Application Closes: October 6, 2025, at 8:00 AM
For all candidates: Fingerprinting and Experience Verifications are due EOD, October 14, 2025
For external candidates: Employment Verification, Performance Evaluation Submission, and Discipline/Misconduct History submissions are due EOD, October 14, 2025
Step 2 In-person Dates*: October 28, 2025 - November 7, 2025
