Green Initiative

The Northside campus features a native prairie, an organic food production area, and specialty gardens that serve as outdoor laboratories. As global citizens, our students regularly extend their learning experiences outside the classroom. Our students have the opportunity to exercise vision and leadership by investigating environmental issues, proposing solutions, and transforming their world. Through the vision and work of our Northside faculty, staff, and students, our community is:

• Utilizing solar thermal panels to heat our pool

• Recycling to reduce waste in landfills

• Utilizing photovoltaic panels to offset our electricity consumption

• Remediating our soil and hydrology based on sound environmental practices

• Developing an experimental space to test ideas for sustainable land use
