Colloquium is the hallmark of education at Northside. Together, students and teachers explore a rich variety of topics, driven by natural curiosity and common interest.
During regular school weeks, students and teachers are engaged in project-oriented courses that reflect a wide variety of academic and cultural topics. For example, students acquire experience in prototyping in Intro to Making, serve the local community in Pay It Forward, design and plan the building of a Zen garden on school grounds in the Japanese Garden colloquium, combine technology and creative skills in the Robotics colloquium, create and analyze musical compositions and explore the technology used to create them in the Sound Thinking colloquium. Such a wealth of experiences challenges all of us to new levels of learning and living. Through participation in colloquium, we explore new areas of learning that go beyond our own perceived limitations.
