MYP Art 1

Welcome to the world of art! Your son or daughter/you are enrolled in a MYP visual arts class this year. My name is Rhonda Gholston and I am writing this letter to introduce myself to you, and to let you know that I am looking forward to a school year of exciting HPA artistic experiences.

Course Description

The MYP Visual Arts course is designed to acquire personal, social, cultural and aesthetic meaning through art. The study of visual arts provides students with the opportunity to develop a critical and intensely personal view of themselves in relation to the world. Students will be introduced to art concepts, criticism and analysis. The students will achieve technical and media skills, and be able to relate art to sociocultural and historical events. Students will gain the basic skills and the knowledge necessary to talk about works of art and create works of art through knowledge and understanding, application, reflection and evaluation, and personal engagement.
