What color best describes your personality and why?
Yellow like the sunshine. The sun is always shining and I am always smiling. I have a genuinely happy, outgoing personality. I am easy to get along with. Like the sun, I am dedicated to warming the hearts of others. ***Did I mention I enjoy sunbathing every chance I get?
Favorite books/authors:
Dr. Seuss
Favorite quote:
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own, and you know what you know and you are the one who will decide where to go (Dr. Seuss).”
Favorite movies:
The Princess Bride
Greatest achievement:
Aside from earning a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood, my greatest achievement so far has been moving to Chicago on my own after being accepted to Skinner West as a Kindergarten teacher. I knew very few people in the city and I had never been away from home before. It took two years to adjust and I have no regrets.
Person I admire most:
My Grandmother…..She is 98 years old and is full of advice and wisdom. She is a “Holocaust Survivor.” She is the mother of four successful children and was happily married for 63 years. She is and has always been a strong, independent woman and one of my best friends. I love her dearly.
What inspired you to become a teacher?
I have always enjoyed school. I would like to continue to provide a fun, safe, optimistic learning environment for the children of our future. I have wonderful memories of my childhood teachers and would like to contribute to making wonderful memories for my students as they continue to grow.
What do you enjoy most about teaching?
I enjoy working with children in their first year of school and helping them to adjust happily to the new routine that will be a part of their lives for at least the next 15 years. I also love admiring the progress of each kindergartner from the beginning of the school year to the end. I love my career and look forward to attending school each day!
