Middle Grades Teacher: Created a culture of readers in grades 5th-8th. Utilized “best practice” methods in a Balanced Literacy to scaffold instruction. Targeted instruction to meet student needs resulting in significant gains on NWEA assessments.

Adjunct Professor: Prepare TFA teachers to understand best teaching practices in Literacy. Coursework was taught in the areas of Reading & Writing Instruction, Reading in the Content Areas, and Reading Research for the Graduate School of Education at Domincan University.

Reading Coordinator: Provided target small group instruction to students in grades 1st-7th. Designed and delivered professional development to teachers in the areas of Reading & Writing. Organized and updated a leveled book room as a resource for guided reading instruction.

Literacy Intervention Teacher: Pioneered a literacy intervention program for students in grades K-5. Assessed student individual reading levels and provided targeted small group instruction to close the reading gap by building foundational reading skills and word knowledge.

Fifth Grade Teacher: Self-contained teacher that implemented guided reading practices and taught literacy through a traditional workshop model.
