My name is Megan Fair and I am so excited to be your child’s 3rd grade teacher! Strong relationships and community are at the center of my classroom, and I greatly look forward to collaborating with you and your child as we work and learn together.
I grew up in Pennsylvania, and then moved to Salt Lake City, UT to attend the University of Utah. While in Utah, I was a teaching artist in the Salt Lake City Public Schools, teaching dance, creative movement, and core curriculum subjects to kindergarten - high school aged students through an arts integration program. I eventually moved back to Pennsylvania where I worked as a pre-K teacher for five years in a Head Start program. My next move was to Chicago, where I received a Masters in Teaching from The University of Chicago. Before coming to Peterson, I was a 1st grade teacher in CPS on the southwest side of the city. I love our Peterson community and am so grateful to be a part of it. The community - administrators, students, families, and staff - has allowed me to flourish as a teacher and I hope that our classroom community does the same for your child. When I’m not at school I enjoy reading, yoga, and hanging out with my goofy cat, Pantera.
I love working with children and families, and look forward to meeting you and your child. It is my firm belief that families are students’ first teachers, and as such, can offer so much as partners with teachers to help us to enrich the classroom experience of students. All children should be valued for their whole person - acknowledging their academic, social, emotional, physical, and mental strengths. I want to teach to joy, celebrating and acknowledge the whole child, working for equity, meeting the individual needs of each child, and helping them to understand themselves and the world around them with all of its complexities.
