Unit 1: The Power of Democracy & Citizenship

In this first unit of Civics, students will explore the concepts of democracy, power, participation, community, and citizenship. They will participate in creating their own classroom community and working to understand the principles that make a democracy work effectively. Using this knowledge, students will also explore several models of citizenship and how they can use their voices to create positive change in their communities.
