Enrichments and Seminars

Shakespeare in Performance

In this seminar, students study one text per semester (Twelfth Night and then King Lear). Students learn Shakespeare performance techniques and strategies to overcome and embrace the language. In addition, students compare and contrast different adaptations of the plays we are studying. You can see all of the agendas below!

Students play an improv game called "Family Portrait," where they are given a type of family and must pose in such a way that the others in the class can guess what type of family they are. This group was a family of dentists.

Students practice different voice levels to determine what feels most natural with their characters. In this picture, students are practicing shouting their lines at their scene partners.

We had a movie and popcorn day to watch and compare excerpts of three different versions of Twelfth Night.

Students attend a field trip to the Chicago Shakespeare Theater to see A Midsummer Night's Dream.
