This is my seventh year as a teacher and I am returning back to McDowell after being gone for two years. I taught 5th Grade for four years at McDowell and was an SEL support teacher at a CPS high school for the last two years.
I am originally from North Carolina and moved to Chicago directly after college. I attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Tarheels!) for my bachelor’s degree and Dominican University for my Masters in Teaching. My favorite part of teaching is finding ways for students to engage in content that helps them relate to their own identity and growth. During SEL Class this year, students will be building community with one another, focusing on their identity and values, and connecting to the world around them.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and getting a chance to visit with my nieces and nephews in North Carolina. I love UNC Tarheel college basketball, Bears football, and playing tennis with friends.
I’m excited and hopeful for a great upcoming school year!
